I am leaving my current employer for hopefully greener pastures, and got a very nice parting gift from one of our attorneys. I have talked to this person over the last few years about work and our personal lives. During our personal life conversations, I learned that her fiance is an artist who makes his bread and butter on officially licensed figurines. When I learned that he made Mighty Mouse figurines, I told her about my childhood obsession with Mighty Mouse. She remembered that and brought me an autographed Mighty Mouse figurine today. I am so happy. Can't stop smiling.

Move over, Orville. wjp in da house. I know it has been three months since I last posted here. I'm busy. Get over it. I do, however, make time to surf a few favorite sites such as Hackaday, LifeHacker, and BoingBoing. The other day I saw a very intriguing story on LifeHacker about microwave popcorn, how much crap they put in it, and why it really isn't special. One of the things that really popped (pun intended) out at me was the fact that microwave popcorn is the exact same popcorn. Its the very same stuff in a paper bag full of chemicals that simulate butter flavor and color and that you could just as easily do it yourself. Tonight I went where no wjp has gone before. DIY Microwave Popcorn. Yep. I went there. boo yah. My first try was with five or six kernals in a glass measuring cup. In about one and a half minutes I had a small but tasty treat. Having successfully popped a few kernals I, as any good wjp, decided to supersize it. I put a dollop of butter in a glass dish and probably too much popcorn. Needless to say, I spent about twenty minutes cleaning the microwave, but it was worth it. If you decide to try it yourself, take my advice and step up your popcorn making quantities slowly. It is better to have too much bowl and not enough corn than a microwave full of freshly popped popcorn that wouldn't fit in your tiny bowl. Ohhh. And make sure you cover your bowl too. You wouldnt' believe just how violent popcorn pops. Tags: Hits: 9 | Read more... |

One of the driving motiviations for creating a new template was that my old template was designed for Joomla 1.0. Since I am running Joomla 1.5, I have to enable the Legacy Mode module in order for any old templates or extensions to work. After building a new template, I had to find a new video gallery since my old one was also designed for the older version of Joomla. I am now happy to anounce that my site is finally 100% Joomla 1.5. I honestly like the new video gallery better than the old one. It is better looking, and it doesn't require me to pay for an annual subscription. Hope you like it. I'm not going to change it if you don't, but hope you like it anyway.
p.s. I used my own Joomla Templating Tutorial as a reference while making my new template. It passed 1,000 views on Scribd.com on April 28th. You can see it for yourself here. Tags: Hits: 54 | Read more... |
